StreamBot

StreamBot is the assistant built into your workspace - a floating window on desktop and the StreamBot tab on a phone. It answers questions about the app and the data, turns a description into a filtered screen you can open, and runs sourced research against the database. This page covers what it does, what it never does, and what a research request costs.

Three things it does

Ask it the way you would ask a colleague who knows the product. It works out which of three jobs you mean and says so, with the interpreted filters shown so you can correct it.

  • Help and navigation - how a page works, where a control lives, what your plan includes. It links you to the right place; it does not move you there.
  • Building screens - describe a report ("Canadian gold projects at feasibility with a study this year") and it shows the validated filters with a few genuine matching rows. You open the full screen yourself, and with Pro you can save it as a report.
  • Research - a question that needs the database read, compared or summarised, with every figure carrying its source and date. Research is the only kind of request that counts against your monthly allowance.

What it never does

  • Navigate for you. Every result is a preview with an Open link; nothing changes the page under you.
  • Change your billing. Plan changes, cancellation and card details stay in Settings and on the pricing page.
  • Edit shared data. It reads the database; it cannot write to a company, project, deal or article. Corrections go through Report error in the company or project header, or the flag on the affected row. It cannot submit that form for you.
  • Act on other people’s data. It only ever sees your own watchlist, saved items and alerts, and only what your plan already lets you open.
  • Invent a field, a source or a number. If the data is not there it says so rather than guessing.

Research requests per plan

Help, navigation and filter-building are free on every plan and never count. Research requests are metered per calendar month, and the numbers below are the same ones on the pricing page.

PlanStreamBot research requests / month

Pro100
Pro+500

StreamBot help, navigation and filter-building are included on every plan; only research requests count.

Signed out, you get one introductory research request to see how it works - no monthly reset, and help and filter-building stay open. A research request never unlocks data your plan does not include: a Free account researching a Pro dataset sees the same preview rows the rest of the app shows, with an honest note about what the full screen would add.

StreamBot tells you before a request is spent. A research answer asks you to confirm with a Run research button and shows how many requests remain this month; the rail carries the same figure next to your plan. Compare all plans.

Personal actions

StreamBot can act on your own lists when you ask it to - follow a company, save a deal or an article, save a screen you built together. It prepares the action for you to confirm with a button. It only reports success after the change is confirmed.

  • You ask - "follow these three" - then click the proposed action to confirm. A general question never triggers a write.
  • It confirms with a receipt - what changed, in one line, in the conversation.
  • The receipt links to the place it changed - your watchlist, the saved reports list, the alerts page - and the rest of the app updates at once.
  • Undo is where it always was: the star, the bookmark or the bin on the row itself.

Context, history and deletion

Page context starts off. Select Limit request to in the composer to attach the current page or screener filters to your next message. A chip shows what you selected; remove it to send without that context. Explain unread and Ask about my watchlist attach the items you selected. Attaching context never sends a message on its own; nothing leaves until you press Send.

For follow-up questions, StreamBot uses the last 12 messages in the same chat. Your conversation history stays saved. Start a New chat for fresh context; your previous chats remain in History.

  • History - conversations are kept per account and listed under History in the workspace header.
  • Delete a chat - open History using the clock icon in the StreamBot header, select the bin beside the chat, then confirm Delete?. When deletion succeeds, its messages and associated stored results are removed from our active server database.
  • New chat starts a separate conversation. The × beside Continue chat only dismisses that suggestion. Neither deletes the saved chat.
  • Deleting a chat keeps your watchlist, saved research screens, alerts and usage counters. Remove saved items separately if you no longer want them.
  • Signed out - chats are stored on our server under a signed browser session. After signing in, Keep your chats lets you explicitly transfer that session’s chats to your account.
  • Explaining an update never marks it read. Opening the alert does, exactly as before.

Model-backed answers use OpenAI. Your message, relevant recent conversation, attached context and the records needed to answer are sent for processing; this can include your notifications when you ask about them. Do not include passwords, API keys or other secrets. Chats are stored in Supabase. Inactive signed-in chats are eligible for cleanup after 180 days, and anonymous chats after 30 days, through a daily bounded sweep. You can delete a chat sooner from History. Backups may retain deleted content until they expire, and model-provider records have separate retention rules. Chats are not end-to-end encrypted. Read how we handle your data for storage, processing and privacy contact details.

Where to go next

The watchlist guide covers following and saving in full, the alerts guide covers how updates reach you, and the research screens guide explains what happens to a screen StreamBot builds once you save it.

Quick steps

  1. On desktop, open StreamBot from the sidebar switch or the minimised StreamBot mark; on mobile use the StreamBot tab or ask bar.
  2. Ask a question or choose an example. Page context starts off. Select Limit request to if you want to attach the current page to your next message.
  3. Open the returned result yourself. Confirm proposed personal actions with their button and research with Run research when offered.

Open, resize and hide

  • Desktop uses a floating workspace with Chat, Inbox, Watching and Screens tabs. The arrow switches half/full height; the header can move the half-height window between top-right and bottom-right.
  • Examples show three prompts over two rows. Use Refresh examples to browse four sets. Each prompt shows its Help, Screen or Research type. Hide removes them on this device; Show examples restores them. Truncated labels still send the full question.
  • Minimising or switching StreamBot off keeps it minimised across pages until you reopen it. The bell opens Inbox. On a phone, the StreamBot tab opens the sheet and its grabber adjusts the height.
  • Selecting a destination in the mobile sheet closes it before navigating. Browser Back can close an open mobile sheet.

What chat can and cannot do

  • Help, filtering, sorting and building screens are free, including Pro datasets and numeric filters such as market cap. Pro tables show a limited preview; open the screen to explore it. Comparisons, aggregation and evidence analysis use research requests. When an upgrade or monthly reset restores your allowance, an earlier limit card offers Run research with the current balance; it never resends the request automatically.
  • When research finishes, chat returns to the start of the answer if you were following the latest content. If you scrolled away, your reading position is kept. Use View results above an answer to jump to its result tables, then Open in screener to explore them.
  • Screen cards offer Save research screen or reopen the saved screen. Use the star beside a company or project name in a result table to add or remove it from your watchlist. A confirmed save or new follow offers notification choices in chat. Plan links stay quiet; saved screens require Pro and watchlists follow your plan limit.
  • After a research screen is saved, StreamBot confirms it inline with up to two filters, an Open screener link and notification choices. Confirmations appear in action order and each can be closed independently. Screen updates stay off until you choose a delivery option. New watchlist entries are confirmed by name and start with in-app updates; email is optional. Choose a delivery option to save it, or dismiss the suggestion. Existing delivery settings are preserved. Email choices are available when email alerts have launched.
  • StreamBot can read supported data, build screens and prepare follow, bookmark, screen-save, screen-alert and mark-read actions. A personal change needs your confirmation click and a successful receipt; a partial receipt identifies failures.
  • StreamBot cannot submit a data correction, send support email, change billing or edit shared records. Use Report error on the affected record; it can help draft your wording.
  • This release reads the available database. It cannot browse the web, ingest a new filing on demand or run unattended background research. Saved report alerts are a separate feature.
  • Treat an unsupported or incomplete answer as a gap. Open the cited source, correct the context or narrow the question. Report incorrect underlying data through the row flag.

Research limits and interrupted answers

  • Research allowances reset on the first of the month at 00:00 UTC. The signed-out introductory request has no monthly reset. Upgrading raises the ceiling without resetting existing usage.
  • Use Stop to interrupt work. Failed, cancelled or unusable research releases its research credit; a useful completed research answer counts. Read the displayed usage after the task settles.
  • For a temporary connection error, use Retry when offered. A resumed stream can replay the saved answer; an interrupted generation may need a new attempt. A partial answer is not a completed result.
  • A temporary throttle, service unavailable message and exhausted research allowance are different. Follow the message’s next step; upgrading does not fix a service outage. Help can remain usable when research is exhausted.

History and privacy

  • Page context is optional for each message. Selecting Limit request to attaches the displayed page; remove the chip to undo it. Sending, navigating to another page or starting a new chat leaves page context off. Explicit Ask about actions still attach their selected items.
  • New chat starts fresh context; History opens previous chats. Follow-up answers use the last 12 messages in the same chat. New chat and dismissing a Continue chat suggestion do not delete saved history.
  • To delete a chat, open History using the clock icon in the StreamBot header, select the bin beside the chat, then confirm Delete?. Once deletion succeeds, its messages and associated stored results are removed from our active server database, not just hidden. StreamBot cannot delete chats on your behalf.
  • Deleting a chat does not remove watchlists, saved research screens or alerts, or reset usage counters. Remove saved items separately. Backups may retain deleted content until they expire; model-provider records follow separate retention rules. Do not promise immediate erasure of every copy.
  • Chats are stored in Supabase and processed through Vercel. Model-backed answers send relevant messages, attached context and retrieved records to OpenAI. Supabase provides encryption in transit and at rest, but chats are not end-to-end encrypted; authorised infrastructure administrators can access stored content. For the detailed notice, use the streambot-privacy destination. Personal-data requests go to privacy@stream-markets.com.
  • After signing in, Keep your chats explicitly transfers this browser session’s anonymous chats. Without that choice, do not expect anonymous history to appear in the account.
  • Check which account you signed into if history or lists are missing. Private chats do not transfer merely by sharing a URL.
  • Do not paste passwords, API keys or payment details. Relevant messages, context and retrieved records are processed to answer the question. Inactive signed-in chats are eligible for cleanup after 180 days, anonymous chats after 30 days.
  • A Preview label means sample answers and demonstration research usage; personal action confirmations can still change your real account.
