Moolarben is an integrated thermal-coal complex comprising truck-and-shovel open-cut mines, underground longwall areas, coal handling and preparation facilities, stockpiles and rail-loading infrastructure. Existing operations are approved through 31 December 2038 for combined production of up to 22 Mtpa. Yancoal owns a 98.75% economic interest, with the remaining interest held by a Korean power-company consortium. The proposed OC3 extension would add about 30 Mt of life-of-mine ROM production without increasing approved annual production rates or extending the complex's approved operating term.
