Hunter Valley Operations is an integrated multi-pit open-cut complex comprising HVO North and HVO South and producing thermal and semi-soft coking coal. Yancoal owns 51% of the unincorporated joint venture, with Glencore holding the remaining interest. The amended continuation proposal seeks mining through 31 December 2045 at HVO North and 31 December 2042 at HVO South while retaining a combined complex limit of 26 Mtpa ROM coal. The proposal was referred to the NSW Independent Planning Commission in June 2026 and also remains subject to federal environmental approval.
