Palvanen covers 58 square kilometres of folded and sheared Kittilä Suite volcanic rocks and graphitic tuffs near the interpreted Kiistala Thrust. Kinross invested approximately C$5.4 million in geophysics, base-of-till sampling and more than 8,000 metres of drilling before declining Stage 2 of its earn-in. Valkea retained full ownership and is reviewing the dataset.
