Escondida is a producing open-pit copper complex in Chile's Atacama Desert with three concentrators, flotation concentrate production, and two leaching and SX-EW operations. BHP operates and owns 57.5%, Rio Tinto owns 30%, Mitsubishi Materials owns 1.25% through JECO 2, and other Japanese interests own the balance.
