Pure Fonte is a proposed Quebec low-emission pig-iron manufacturing plant intended to supply electric-arc-furnace steel mills and foundries. An independently completed bankable feasibility study covered an earlier US$408 million, 425,000-tonne-per-year concept; management later modelled an 800,000-tonne-per-year, US$680 million hydrogen-ready plant. The full study and a discount rate have not been published, environmental assessment work has been on hold since 2019, and financing remains outstanding.
