Makhado is a fully permitted open-pit hard-coking and thermal coal development in the Soutpansberg Coalfield. Open-pit overburden mining, coal-plant construction and cold commissioning were under way in the March 2026 quarter, with the foundation phase designed for approximately 800,000 tonnes per year of hard coking coal.
