Welcome Creek comprises two adjoining exploration licences covering 403.50 square kilometres in the northwest Officer Basin, approximately 260 kilometres east of Newman. The 1,475.5-metre WCD001/1B hole ended before testing the modelled basement source but identified copper, zinc and lead anomalism in the sedimentary sequence, and a government co-funded two-dimensional seismic survey is planned to refine the target.
