Smoking Gun is a natural hydrogen and helium exploration project assembled by Benton and Metals Creek in western Newfoundland's Deer Lake Basin. The project had previously expanded to 654 claim units covering approximately 163.5 square kilometres. On September 3, 2026, the companies announced the acquisition of an additional 262 claim units through staking. Results from the completed regional soil-gas programs at Smoking Gun and Parson's Pond remain pending. The companies will plan an inaugural drill program to test favourable hydrogen and helium targets after compiling the results. Further studies are required to validate the presence of hydrogen and helium.
